The Chemistry of Oo, can you sense the love?
February has always felt different inside Oo La Lab.
Not louder. Not more obvious. Just… warmer. Slower. Charged in a way that’s hard to explain unless you work with scent every day.
We call it the Chemistry of Oo - that intangible space where science meets emotion, and where something quietly powerful happens between people.
Love is a chemical reaction (literally)
At its core, fragrance is chemistry. Molecules interacting with receptors. Signals firing inside the brain. Memories, moods, and emotions surfacing without warning.
Love isn’t so different.
Dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin - the language of attraction and attachment is written in chemistry long before it’s spoken out loud. What we often forget is that smell is the fastest, most subconscious pathway into that system.
Before we decide if we’re interested.
Before we speak.
Before we even realise it…
We smell.
The unsung hero of attraction
Humans subconsciously smell each other when we meet for the first time. It’s subtle, often unnoticed, but deeply instinctive. Our brains are scanning for familiarity, comfort, intrigue, safety - or something that feels new and exciting.
Scent helps us read non-verbal cues:
Are they calming or energising?
Do they feel familiar or foreign?
Do I lean in… or step back?
It’s why a scent can make someone feel instantly attractive - or inexplicably wrong - without a single word exchanged.
And yet, smell is rarely talked about when we talk about love.
Inside Oo La Lab, it’s where we begin.
Valentine’s inside Oo La Lab
For us, Valentine’s isn’t a single day. It’s a season.
A time when couples, friends, partners, and individuals step into the lab not to buy a perfume - but to explore connection.
Our Valentine’s workshops are designed as a shared experience:
A moment to slow down
To notice what draws you toward one another
To explore preferences, contrasts, and overlap
To translate emotion into something tangible
You don’t just create a fragrance.
You create a scent language for your relationship.
Love, in all its forms
Not all love looks the same - and we honour that.
Some couples arrive with a spark that’s just been lit. Curious, playful, electric.
Others come with something steadier. Deeper. A love that’s been tested, shaped, and softened over time.
Both are beautiful. Both deserve celebration.
In the lab, we see it all:
Laughter over unexpected scent choices
Quiet moments of agreement
Gentle negotiation between “I love this” and “I don’t”
Surprise at how aligned - or different - two people can be
Scent becomes a mirror. Sometimes a bridge. Sometimes a conversation starter when words fall short.
Why it matters
In a world that moves fast, love often becomes transactional. Scheduled. Assumed.
Scent asks us to pause.
To notice.
To feel.
To trust instinct again.
It reminds us that connection isn’t always logical - and doesn’t need to be.
A call to celebrate love, differently
This Valentine’s Month, we invite you to celebrate love in all its forms:
New love
Long love
Rekindled love
Self-love
Curious love
Step into the Chemistry of Oo.
Design a fragrance that captures how you connect.
Create something that lingers, and cherish it long after the moment ends.
Because sometimes, love doesn’t need more words. It just needs the right chemistry.
✨ Our Valentine’s perfume workshops are now open for booking throughout February.
Come as you are. Leave with a scent that’s uniquely yours.
